The Southern Stars Drumline are an
exciting and unique percussion ensemble based in Melbourne.
We have performed our unique percussive
routines at a range of events including:
Australian Federation Tattoo –
Bendigo, 2006.
Australian Ultimate Drummers Weekend,
2005 & 2006.
Olympic Torch Relay - Great Wall of
China, 2005.
Commonwealth Games Promotion -
Waterfront City (Melbourne), 2005.
Melbourne Fringe Festival - Federation
Square, 2004.
Our involvement extends to other fun
activities such as Triple J radio events in Melbourne and drumming
workshops in regional Victoria. We have even been featured on the Zildjian website
The Drumline originally formed as the
marching percussion section of the Australian Youth Band. With
marching opportunities limited to the warmer months of the year, the
drumline developed a new performance style not yet seen in Australia.
We can provide a percussive show of up
to 15 minutes duration for festivals and special events. Our high
energy percussive performances are guaranteed to draw attention,
combining grooving beats, choreographed movement and stick tricks and
even some audience participation.
We also specialise in roving percussive
entertainment. Our roots are in a Marching Band so we know how to
move!!
