The Moomba Youth Band was formed in late 1978 to lead the Silver
Jubilee procession of Melbourne's Moomba Festival in March 1979. Three
decades, hundreds of members, stacks of gigs, and a couple of name
changes later, the band is still going strong, under the banner of the
Australian Youth Band. But we will never forget our origins!
Past and present band members are encouraged to invite family and friends to this very special, formal celebration of the band's 30th year. A fantastic
anniversary event is planned on March 14, with food, music and lots of memories and
photos from the band's beginnings to now.
The Australian Youth Band, after a well-deserved break, have returned to the stage with their first performance of 2009 in Swan Hill. The band will enjoy a 3 day trip to the rural town of Victoria with an early morning performance at the 29th annual Swan Hill Australia Day Breakfast, Australia Day, January 26th.
AYB will be performing at the Geelong Carols By The Bay with guest artists Denis Walter and Gorgi Quill.
Rhonda Burchmore, Jordyn Griffin, Gossip, The Kazoos, Humphrey, and of course St Nick himself will also be entertaining the crowds. The evening will conclude with a fantastic display of fireworks over Corio Bay.

parade on Sunday 16 November.
Marching Display at the Dandenong Show
Sunday, 19 October 2008
AYB will be performing a marching display at the 2008 Dandenong Show:
The show is not only a significant rural event but also features rides, a helicopter jump show, showbags and much more, making for some great family fun. And there just may be fireworks!
The Saturday show runs from 9am-10pm.
From June 24 to July 13, AYB toured America, Mexico and Canada with the main focus of the trip being the Calgary Stampede in Canada. The tour was a tremendous success with the band performing exceptionally well at all 11 of our performances. AYB was also awarded several honours while on tour in North America.
