On Saturday 12th May, we were visited by Mr
Seksan Norkwong, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Tourism and
Sports, from the Kingdom of Thailand. Mr Norkwong has
responsibility for sport and youth affairs in Thailand and was visiting
Melbourne to investigate the possibility of future cooperation between
his Ministry and the Victorian Ministry of Sport, Recreation and Youth
Affairs.
Mr Norkwong and his delegation also have a special interest in marching bands
and we have been invited to participate in their International Marching Band Competition, held in Bangkok every year.
We hope to be able to accept Mr Norkwong's invitation and travel to Thailand in the future.

The Australian Youth Band held its first major
recruitment activity for 2007 on Saturday 17 March at
our rehearsal venue, Parkhill Primary School.
We welcomed a number of prospective
recruits, played through some fun and challenging music, enjoyed a
display by AYB's dynamic Drumline , and presented information on
how young musicians can become involved with Australia's official
musical contingent performing at the 2008 BEIJING OLYMPIC GAMES!
